Place: Opposite Apna Bazaar, near Bhavan's college
Service: - 6/10
VFM: - 8/10We had just finished watching Badmaash Company and were looking for a place to spend Saturday night. Kino's is a new place that we hadn't tried out so off we went!
Food
The 8 of us ordered a lot of starters to go with our drinks. The chicken crostini was great...I don't know what kind of cheese they put on it, but it gave it the perfect taste! The fish in the "fish and chips" and "fish tikka" was fresh and tasty. The veggie items were also good, though I can easily skip talking about them! However, my favorite item in the starters were the chicken wings. They were coated with an extremely flavorful marination. Would have this every time I come here.
In the main course, I especially liked Vedant's prawns risotto. Cheesy and with yum prawns mixed with the rice.
The only two items I was disappointed with were the fondue and the blue cheese dip. A fondue usually comes to your table with the fire still burning under the cheese. This wasn't the case here and so halfway through eating it, the cheese started losing its liquidity and became sticky. The blue chesse tastes like some mayonnaise dip. Absolutely bullshit in front of TGIF's blue cheese dip.
Menu variety
The menu has a lot of interesting items that you may not have seen elsewhere. The chef's come up with a lot of cool stuff. One thing that I didn't try was the wasabi prawns. I'm definitely gonna come here again just to try that out. Both veggies and non-veggies alike will enjoy the options here.
Service
They could fare better here. You need to put in a lot of effort to get the attention of the waiting staff. They were standing next to the bar talking to each other when they should've been keeping an eye on the tables. But once you did catch their attention, no complaints at all.
Ambiance
The place looks very classy until 2300 hrs, after which it turns into a more fun place as larger (and younger) crowds start pouring in. The dance floor gets active and the music gets louder. It maintains a good feel to it in both cases. The music could be better though. The DJ was playing good retro songs, but it was interspersed with a lot of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and the like. He also played some songs that Gayatri and I enjoyed, but some of the boys (read: Kashif) thought were gay. That's why I like being a girl - you're allowed to like gay songs. Lol.
Value for money
For drinks (mostly beers), many many starters, main course (for some people only) and dessert, each person had to shell out about 1K. Not bad at all.
And in conclusion...
Good place to hang out. I'd go there again and again.
