Place: I went to the one at Andheri (E), Saki Naka
Food
The reason I go to Kobe's is because they are one of the fewer joints in Andheri east that serve steak (excluding the 5 stars). So my steak eating friend and I come here when we are desperately in the moods for some beef. However, this does not mean that they make the best steaks. In fact, they've got one thing very, very wrong and I hope they learn quick. When you ask for a steak that's medium rare, they cook it medium-rare, and then put it in the sizzler plate, covered with veggies, french fries and cheese on top. What this does is creates another cooking environment, making the steak well-done. So ideally, they should be cooking it rare and then serving it. We all know that it takes about 10 minutes to get to the meat in a sizzler. You have to finish all the stuff on top first, or you'll end up spilling. Kobe, please take this into consideration when you're making your steaks...Yoko's does this perfectly!
Apart from this, I hate their mustard sauce which has no sting to it at all. It's the lamest mustard sauce you could want to have with meat. In fact, I'm not a fan of any of their sauces. Even the ones in the dish. They all seem without chutzpah.
Oh I should also mention, We found a cockroach under our sizzling plate once (thankfully it wasn't in the food). I don't know where it was hiding to survive the heat, but it suddenly ran out on our table! Ugh!
Menu variety
The whole menu has been copied from Yoko's. With names. So like Yoko's, they also have fewer mutton items, which could have been worked on.
They have recently started serving Chinese food which is a good boost to their menu. In face, we tried some chicken burnt garlic rice which tasted quite good. You might wanna try out their Chinese menu some time.
Service
Service is very good. Waiters are prompt and helpful. When we found the cockroach once, we were told we'd get a fresh dish. When we said that we weren't hungry anymore, they simply didn't charge for that dish. Another time, when the steak became too well-done, we complained and he got us another one (which eventually became well done again and that's when we realized that they weren't taking the serving sizzline plate into account for cooking time).
Ambiance
The Kobe's at Andheri east has two floors and looks quite nice from outside. The window tables would have given quite a view if it hadn't been for the consistent traffic you see outside! Otherwise, it's a normal well lit restaurant. For somebody who is there just to eat. No romantic meals here!
Value for money
From a sizzler joint's perspective (coz these usually are slightly expensive), this place is still highly priced. A Steak Satellite will take you back by 410 bucks which is Rs. 50 higher than Yoko's!
Location
Although good place to eat if you work at Saki Naka, parking is a problem here. Walk or take a rick.
And in conclusion...
If you can, I suggest you rather go to Yoko's.
